Well, another allnighter finished, more tired but happy customers on the long (and incredibly tired walk home) and we have
Link yet again coming out top. But not without a little bit of drama and an initial upset!
The night started slowly, getting a few people going on Call of Duty 4 Headquarters mode for some quick fragging, then
a monstrous 10-player game of DOTA. I tried, but i'm pretty poor. I'm sure I probably mangled controlling Malfurion but
I'm glad I tried!
The x-box 360 made a little appearence. Much Guitar Hero, Fifa and a little bit of Fight Night Round 3 was played.
Ever seen Jake LaMotta take down Ali? You would have if you'd came here on friday night! And as for Fifa? Well,
lets just say that Zag loosing 13-2 playing as Italy versus Spain could be considered just a little bit of a
thrashing. But he took it in good grace and scored quite cracker of a consolation goal with Luca Toni in the 90th minute.
Due to people going walkies randomly at 1am after being told the Competitions were starting at 1am, we had a bit of a
delayed start and decided to kick the night off with a little bit of fun with a Flat Out 2 destruction derby! Or
3 of them to be precise! Scores were based F1-style and games were weighted on peoples finishes. This saw young Paul2T7
come out on top, winning all 3 of his Derbys and taking full points!
Next up, we polled our members. Counter-Strike: Source? or something different. Team Fortress 2? Battlefield 2?
Turns out we all wanted a bit of Battlefield 2. JonnyKay and Chackle made impressive starts but it was the ever
victorious Link that came out on top yet again, however young Paul managed to get himself inside the top 6 and bag
himself some extra points heading into our last game, Call of Duty 4.
The conclusion was expected, however there were still points and prizes up for grabs! Another strong show from Glow and
Ghetto (Both placed highly in the Battlefield 2) meant the prize was anyones until the clock ran down...And like the
underdog in any race, Paul came through yet again, shocking everyone with a 4th placed finish to guarentee his position
of 2nd behind Link and to win himself a daypass!
Besides this, we had some fun with the X-Box on Guitar Hero and Fifa 2008, some fun Call of Duty 4 Headquarters games and
there may, or may not, have been a little bit of DOTA and World of Warcraft. Would you believe that young Ralph (barely
13 years old) is quite the guitar hero master? Sitting destroying songs on hard difficulty. Quite impressive!
We tried to get a little bit of 4 player Fifa 2008 going as well but only 4 players were awake and functioning enough
to get stuck in. But believe me when I tell you, Liverpool ARE unbeatable. Rather nice consolation goal by Samuel E'to
(controlled by Killswitch) however. Bicycle kick from a free-kick floated to the edge of the 6-yard box, definately
one of the finest finishes ever to grace our store.
Remember, these are merely our overall podium winners - Think F1! On top of this, more than 10 people managed to
take themselves home a free hour, and many more managed other spot prizes.
Also, congratulations to Tom "The Morganator" Morgan, who won our raffle entry for early deposits, winning a
gamers t-shirt and a Razer neoprene mouse carrybag.
